Wayside
is both a place where I serve and where my family and I are cared for. I
am grateful for this good group of people who seek to live out their
faith in so many
ways. I continue to enjoy my areas of focus in Christian Education and
the Deacons, as well as traditional pastoral responsibilities. There is
always something exciting to be working on with people of all ages.
My
family continues to grow. We welcomed a new grandchild in March which
makes Barb and me the proud grandparents of three: Katie, Ethan, and
Colin. Karen and Andy Potocki
are their parents. Karen tutors each week and helps lead the Senior
Highs at church. Even though Andy teaches in Corry, they all live here
in Erie which is a wonderful blessing. David is our middle child who is a
teacher like his sisters. He teaches math and
coaches football, girls basketball and lacrosse in and around Boston.
Jill, our youngest, is married to Matt McGill, an engineer at the Lord
Corporation, and they also live in Erie. Jill teaches first graders at
Edinboro Elementary and loves her new job. Both
Matt and Jill help me with our Middler youth group each week. My wife
Barb is the office manager and internal accountant for the Connor,
Riley, Friedman, and Weichler Law Firm. Although the title of which she
is proudest is “Grammy.”
Children
of every age know they can pick out a piece of candy in my office each
time they come to church. I hope everyone feels free to stop in and
visit and tell me
what is going on in their lives or what they are learning.
